Squash (Patung) is a Chief Katsina for the Pumpkin Clan. Much of the Hopi food comes from crops which they grow or gather themselves. Squash, corn, and beans make up the traditional cultivated food of the Hopi people. This plant Katsina is important for in the arid land where the Hopi live The Squash is a Katsina who brings his own water, because of this he is highly valued. This detailed carving was created by Dylan to be given away at a dance. The young Hopi girls receive these carvings from the Katsinam and hang them in their home. These pieces are protectors for the Hopi girls.
