Old Style Hopi Carved Two-Horned God or the Germination God Traditional Kachina Doll (Katsina Doll)
Description
Old Style Hopi Two-Horned God or the Germination God Traditional Katsina Doll by the Katsinam
Two-Horned God or the Germination God (brother of Alosaka or Muy-ingwa) is the God of reproduction. This Katsina is one of the Fertility Katsinam, as he brings raw seeds for planting. This Katsina has more motion that is normally seen in a Traditional or Old Style carving. The reason being this carving was given to a young girl at a dance by a Katsina dancer. As a young woman with children she was forced to ask the Katsinam to help her one more time. She had to sell the gifts she received to feed herself and her family. These are some of the most difficult purchases we make, and it is important for the Hopi women to help them survive.
