Vintage Native American Hopi Made Wicker Plaque with Sunface

This vintage Hopi wicker plaque is used for payback and for ceremonies. This very colorful basket that is very tightly woven features a Sunface. These baskets are made by plaiting sumac, natural and dyed, to achieve many designs. Many of the Hopi wickers, coils, and sifters are used for social or ceremonial purposes. This basket has sun fade on one side, but it does not take away from the beauty of this larger older wicker plaque.
