This Corn Maiden, complete with her hair blowing in the wind, was carved from Zuni rock with turquoise, coral and marble accents by Zuni fetish carver Douglas Martza. A really sweet piece of artwork by this carver. Just as a mother nurtures her newborn, the Corn Maiden is honored for nurturing her people with the flesh of her body, the sweet corn.
