Zuni Carved Mountain Lion Fetish by Edna Leki (dec)

Very old jet mountain lion with turquoise eyes and offering bundle carved by Zuni artist Edna Leki. Guardian of the North...the mountain lion symbolizes personal power, resourcefulness, leadership, intuition and loyalty. Mountain lion fetishes are carried by travelers to protect them on their journey and also by hunters to help ensure a successful hunt. The offering bundles are meant as a gift offering to the animal spirit. The bundles provide the animal spirit with energy, enhancing its powers and allowing its prayers to be heard more easily. This piece is very old and its bundle sinew has been retied. We did not want to replace it as it is a vintage piece.
