1974-78 Native American Zuni Made Buckle with Snake by Effie Calavaza

This wonderful Zuni made buckle with turquoise and coral has a snake dividing the stones. This was was created by Zuni master silversmith Effie Calavaza. Effie who specialized in sand-casting silver and her snake designs are known as her signature style. She began making jewelry in the mid-1950s. Effie went all the way to the United States Supreme Court to obtain full copyright of her artwork to stop those from importing fake pieces of her work. This buckle has a hinged bar and will take a belt up to .5 inches wide.
