Mata Ortiz Handbuilt and Handpainted Pot by Moroni Quezada

This wonderful pot was handbuilt and handpainted by Mata Ortiz resident Moroni Quezada. A spectacular piece with pristine painting on a beautiful black background. The glossy black is achieved by rubbing a mixture of kerosene and graphite into the clay and polishing it with a stone until it shines. The photo does not do this pot justice; it is spectacular to look at and when it is held, it feels perfect to the touch. This pot is so perfectly made that it stands on its own. We include the ring to protect the bottom of the pot.
