The Heoto Katsina is in a category of Katsinam that can be considered as either warriors or guards. Over the years, many of these original functions have been lost. Heoto may have come from the Zuni tribe. Heoto appears on all three mesas. This sweet carving by Virgil shows the Heoto Maiden looking up at the morning sky .
