Native American Santo Domingo Handbuilt Low Bowl
Description
Native American Santo Domingo Handbuilt Polychrome Bowl by Joseph Bailon
In late 19th century, Santo Domingo Pueblo developed a style of decoration that was unlike that of any of the other pueblos. Santo Domingo potters developed a strong bold form of ornamentation in black and red. The Santo Domingo religious beliefs prevents the potters from including human figures on their pottery for "only Creator makes figures."
