Native American Papago Made Basket--Vintage

Description

Vintage Native American Papago Made Basket

The Native American (Papago) Tohono O'odham or Desert People live in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and Mexico. This older basket basket was created using the open coil method where coils of grasses are bundled and then the coils are stacked and woven together with yucca plant and stitch around the top with devil's claw. The outside has classic designs all around the piece. This basket was used by a Native and was sold to the collector from whom we acquired it.
